The Green Boundary Foundation is a non-profit whose purpose is to preserve the historic facade and grounds of the Green Boundary as well as to promote the history of Aiken and its significant architecture. The Green Boundary was designed by the prominent local architect, Willis Irvin for Mr. William Ziegler. The house, first known as Sunshine House, was completed in 1929. On the grounds are located two large tea olive trees that are close to two hundred years old and were dragged to Aiken by 40 mules. The house was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. William Wood, who lived in the house until 1955 and changed the name to Green Boundary. Mr. Seymour Knox, who lived next door, organized the Green Boundary Club with many of his winter resident friends and purchased the house from the Woods. The house is a fine example of Colonial Revival Architecture and of Mr. Irvin’s work.
